Russian antitrust files suit to force Google to fix breaches Tue
MOSCOW, Nov 30 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service filed on Tuesday a lawsuit to court to oblige Google, which it earlier found guilty of abusing its dominant position on the local market of mobile applications and fined, to fulfill its warrant to mend breaches, a service spokesperson said on Wednesday.
The watchdog said on Tuesday it was going to file the lawsuit and open a case on a new fine for the U.S. company’s failure to report on improvements by Monday. The antitrust service’s Director Igor Artemyev said that the authority would not put up with the disobedience of Google.
The service had been waiting until Monday for Google to report on mending its violations on the local market of preinstalled application stores, for which the U.S. company was fined 438 million rubles. Artemyev said earlier that the authority could punish Google with one million rubles for missing the deadline and go to court.
Google and the service are involved in a number of court proceedings at the moment.
